Don’t really like this at all compared to the original. Just sounds more homogenous, like everything else. Seems to really strip the song of its depth.
It’s a fairly rudimentry, standard fare re-mix, perfectly pleasant but nothing special: pasting over some samples and a DJ Shadow excerpt doesn’t equate to a geniunly interesting re-mix!
I’ve no idea why ppl would consider it better than the original!?!
In his defense he’s only had 2 days to work on it…
I like the original but when I say original I mean the version they played live on tour last year. I like what the drums did towards the end of the track live compared to the off beat simplicity of the album version. Just my opinion.
i think standar is not bad – i think simple beats are not bad – i think this person shouldn ‘t say that the original s the one played live last year ” if the band say a different thing ” – i think all this geniuses reviewing pieces of art that ” real ” geniuses make should not deserve to listen to radiohead – sorry . . . – pantrus
ok i suppose the beat does work. As a comparison to the original though i have to say that it takes away everything that makes Radiohead’s version so effective. The minimalism in the original allows Thom’s voice to truly break out, probably the most upfront use of his voice since pyramid song. In terms of getting a remix together in the short amount of time is something of an achievement.
It’s pretty bad when you’re biting from someone who samples for a living. This destroys the simplicity of the original track and welds on a sample from Shadow’s Fixed Income. I advise everyone out there to listen to both great songs separately and not waste your time with this junk.
No, don’t feel like radiohead at all.. those baby-ish keyboard thing at the start are nice, but they’d never do this progressive growing kind of drums, that start at some point then go as a loop for the rest of the song.. which is more used by brainless idm people. That’s just too predictable for Radiohead’s standards. Not that I want my 4 minutes back, this was entertaining regardless.
I really like it. Remixes are nice. This is not a bad one. It’s better than some of the remixes from The Bends B-sides, some of which are fantastic, some of which suck majorly…
People should stop whining. Not every remix has to re-invent the wheel. It’s not as if he had access to the masters or anything. Good grief.
as someone else said – the 2006 live version of videotape was awesome, more upbeat and more powerful too i felt – i was pretty disappointed with the final version on the new album
It’s an ear-sore. It sounds like I’m playing Fixed Income from one speaker and Videotape from another, simultaneously, while vomiting. Actually the very beginning of it, with lofty piano music, was a nice inclusion. I thought the rest would carry on likewise, but it hit a precipice and descended rapidly into a cesspool of remix shit.
It’s a nice idea. Mixing Radiohead, Efterklang and DJ Shadow, but there are definately some times where you should leave tracks alone. Surely the point of this song especially is to leave it alone. However, at least it was done competantly.
better than oroginal
great!!
Amazing. Nice job.
nice…a bit more to a doleful piece of perfection..
Not better then the original… but the live version from the 2006 tour is very good. Kind of a happy medium between this and the studio version.
i wouldn’t say its better than the original but its easier to listen to because they added the beat in the background. its not as awkwardly straight.
You have an undeniable gift – a thoughtfully composed re-creation of a piece of wonderfully cold emotion. Emotionally sublime.
This just sounds like the mash up it is…Radioheads’ Videotape overlayed on top of DJ Shadow’s Fixed Income.
Don’t really like this at all compared to the original. Just sounds more homogenous, like everything else. Seems to really strip the song of its depth.
Not to say the artist doesn’t have talent.

this remix is not very good./
the drums are poorly sampled.
the drums should have been chopped up a lot better.
very weak.
try again.
now i can see how truly beautiful the original is.
nice better than i though would be but i like thoms solo version the most more poignant and simple.
The percussions are somewhat conventional in this one. Otherwise, not too bad but I definitely prefer the original.
really poor compared to the original
i think it shows that the song wasn’t understood

i think it sounds not bad but nothing requiring too much talent, just some sampled drums played over the song.

this really isnt that impressive. it’s just a mix of radiohead and a dj shadow track
Give me R@dioHe@D any day of the week

This is just efterklang superimposed. Still ok though

It sucks goatshit.

That is aweful. It’s just a mash-up. I can hear a lot of DJ Shadow in there.

Meehhh… Nothing beats the live perfomance of this song. Even the In Rainbows’ version doesn’t sound better than 2006 live one.
does anyone have a download of this? i’d love a copy!

Very lovely. Nice development and arrival at the beat.
its impossible to remix radiohead’s songs…
they have just one way to be listended…the original way…
maybe this remix could be a tribute…but not even close to a better version than the original
